Directions for Cookie House

Cement Frosting

Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and water with an electric mixer until frothy.
Slowly mix in sugar. Beat on high until icing is stiff, 5-10 minutes
Place into Forcing bag or into a ziploc sandwich bag.
Make a small hole in the corner of the bag and squeeze to apply cement
Makes about 1 1/2 Cups. Use now or keep covered/sealed up tp 8 hours

BUILDING THE HOUSE

Have an adult cut cookies from the narrow side to make the following:
13 1/2 cookies
6 1/4 cookies

Next, Build both sides of the roof so they can harden. Lay out 4 Graham crackers long sides together and cement a full cookie over each of the long seams.
On only one side of the roof, also cement 2 full cookies at the top edge
This will be the support where the roof sides meet at the peak.
Set aside and let dry.
The plans only have 2 alternating layers.
If you do not want a door, just alternate between layers 7 and 8.

The layers are numbered from the bottom up as you would build it.
Arrange the cookies for layer 1 on the board and square them up.
Pick up each brick and frost/cement the bottom and press back in place
*HINT* Cement a Santa Inside the door before the rest of the walls go up
To make it easier to build , you can set the next layer on the board outside the wall
and then just cement each brick in place.

When you get to layer 7, replace the (2) 1/4 cookies with a full one to span over the door
Layer 8 also adds a 1/2 cookie to fill in over the door
Once layer 9 is built, place a ridge of frosting at the outside edges of front and back walls
to keep the bottom of the roof from slipping off.

*Update* Once completed, you can add two or three cookies to the front and back walls inside to strengthen the walls and keep them from bulging outward before the cement sets. *Update* Otherwise, let the walls harden before adding roof.

Give the house a chance to harden, and then place cement on the upper edge
of the two extra cookies on one side of the roof. Place this roof panel on one side
and then lean the second side against the cement to set the roof. You can now fill the gap at the top of the roof
with cement and press any decorative candies into it.

Once the house is complete, and has had time to harden, you will be able to carefully lift the roof off and fill with goodies if you desire.
At one end of the house, cement two of the nutty buddy bars side by side at one end.
Then cement the next 2 bars on top of them to complete the chimney.
You can add more bricks to each end of the house to fill in the gap below the roof if you want.
